I'm not a huge sports fan but I love Major League Baseball, particularly when I can listen to it on the radio.

Anyone who has listened to the Braves on the radio knows who Skip Caray is. The Voice of the Braves passed away this weekend. I hate baseball on television and have always listened to it on the radio with Skip Caray.
The Atlanta Braves say longtime broadcaster Skip Caray, the son of famous Chicago Cubs voice Harry Caray, has died in his sleep. He was 68 years old.
The team says Skip Caray died in his Atlanta home on Sunday. He had several ailments in the last year but had recovered enough to continue calling Braves home games at Turner Field.
Caray was drawn into broadcasting by his father, a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Skip Caray was in the middle of his 33rd season with the Braves. The St. Louis native started in local radio and later joined his father at the University of Missouri calling football.
I've got a case of knife envy now... :)
I was over at Brigade QM and came across this Gerber Automatic knife. It runs about $150 or so and is pretty sweet. I used to collect weapons when I was younger. Nothing serious mind you, I just enjoy them. Knives, swords, guns, whatever. When my son turned about a year old and was starting to get into things I packed away all of my small knives and sold my guns. I just really didn't want to arrive home one day and walk into an accident. Boys will be boys and you can train them once they are older but as toddlers they tend to get into stuff.
Anyhow, Brigade QM has some pretty cool gear. Besides knives they also carry all sorts of tactical gear and outdoors supplies. They used to be Actiongear.Com but have recently changed to the new domain but it's the same cool stuff.

Even though I live out in West Georgia I grew up in and around the Roswell area and one of my best friends was originally from Boston. He was a huge Boston fan. We never did get to go but either of us would have killed to get Boston Red Sox Tickets when they came to Atlanta to play the Braves. The only question would be which side to sit on...
One pretty place online that looks pretty good to get tickets is Mongo tickets. In addition to the Sox you can get tickets for other sporting events such as Dallas Cowboys Tickets. Not interested in sporting events? How about Broadway or off Broadway shows. You can get Wicked Tickets at a decent price too.
Hey, if you use Mongo, let me know!
So I came across this video earlier today about Beer Pong. I am 41 years old and have never seen anyone play Beer Pong in my entire life. I came across a link to a couple of sites earlier and so went looking for videos on YouTube. I found this one.
#1, this is a drinking game so if you don't like beer don't play. The premise is that you get some beers, ping pong balls, one of those beer pong tables and a few willing players. You try to get your balls into your opponent's beer cups and as each plater loses they have to drink the beer.
I'n not a real huge partier or anything but this looks like it could be a nice addition to this years trip to Helen in October. Substitute Chatham Artillery Punch for the beer and nobody's walking out of there :)
I mentioned last night that the wife and girls went and had supper at church with some of our friends. They had a pretty good time. I ended up falling asleep on the couch while they were gone and it was pretty late when I woke back up and started writing more.
The daughter of our friend rides horses. She's been doing it for a few years now and I guess she really enjoys it. Luckily that's one of the things my daughter hasn't asked that she be allowed to do as it is pretty expensive and while I spoil my children that just isn't something that I want to deal with. Horses, stabling, equestrian clothing, you name it, it's a huge expense.
I am rather glad that my oldest daughter just likes sports, art and singing. While it can be pretty time-consuming it's nothing we can't handle.
So apparently an animal rights group wants the PGA Tour to take some kind of punitive action against golfer Tripp Isenhour. He's facing charges for hitting a hawk with a golf shot because it was making noise as he videotaped a TV show.
He hit a frigging hawk? Dude, I can't even hit the fucking windmill when I'm playing, much less get the thing in the hole. Shit, that's some amazing accuracy. I can think of several people I'd like to bean in the forehead with a well-placed golf ball. I wonder if the guy is available for lessons...
I haven't been keeping up with the news about the Brave lately or I obviously would have seen that Tom Glavine has signed a one year contract to come back and play with the Braves. That kicks ass. I really like Tom Glavine and was sorry to see talks break down with the Braves and have him leave for the Mets five years ago.
The move back to the Atlanta Braves is actually a cut in pay for him prompted because of the simplest things. He wants to be near his family and was willing to take a pay cut in order to do it. I can certainly understand that, not that he has to worry about his salary. Even with the pay cut the contract he signed was $8 million for one year. Damn. Obviously I am making more now that I have several restaurants but that's still 10 times my last twenty years of salary.
After having lost 43 straight times to Notre Dame, Navy finally beat them in triple overtime. The last time that Navy beat them was in 1963.
The game went pretty well tonight. We picked two seniors and both were in the band. Both also missed their kicks so as it stands right now, the girl that made the field goal during the first home game is the only one in the running for the $1000 scholarship. We are going to let two more kick during half-time at the last game of the season and if either of them make it then we will have a kick-off after the game. If neither of them kick the goal then we will go ahead and present her with the check.
I left during half-time, right after the kick and photographs. Villa Rica was getting their asses handed to them. The score was 21-6 at half-time.
Tomorrow is Pete's birthday party, so hopefully my stores will be fully staffed. I need to get out of there by 2pm so that I can get home and get cleaned up.
Other than that it's been a pretty uneventful day, just an extremely long one.
