So how many of you folks actually think that holding the Olympic Games in China was a good idea now?

Let's see...

1. For years now China has seriously oppressed the Chinese people economically, politically and religiously. The rioting and killing that took place relating to Tibet was a direct result of the way they have treated the folks there since they took back Tibet in 1951. Yeah, the Tibetans were rioting and killing folks so of course they had to crack down but you have to look at the deeper causes of it than a bunch of angry monks.

2. Two words. Tiananmen Square. According to the Chinese Red Cross somewhere between 2000-3000 people were killed in the government crackdown on the demonstrators. The 1989 protests are a forbidden topic in China. News of it completely disappeared from everything in China and people are not allowed to talk about it. Just this past week the Chinese police dragged Christians out of the square right in front of the media. Three Americans (of course we were the dumbass protesters) put on a protest on the edge of the square against religious repression as well as the abortionist policies that limit people to a single child. Now I don't have any problem with the population control. Judging from some of the dumb fuckers over here we could do with a little control. If I believed in the government doing those sorts of things I would be all for it. Since I hate government intrusion I will just have to be satisfied knowing that many of them will be up for the Darwin awards in future years. I don't particularly like Christian activists but they have every right to share their opinion. Anyway, to get back to the subject at hand, I think that a serious revolution akin to the French or Russian revolution is coming. It may take decades but China is going to burn from the inside if they aren't careful.

3. Pollution is rampant in China. They are becoming an extremely industrialized nation and have little control over emissions and pollution there. All of the damned idiots that are always complaining about our country and the pollution need to take a long visit to several other countries including China to see what it's like there. We have some of the strictest controls from the EPA of any country in the world.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with the politics of China (I am assuming) but a Chinese man with a knife attacked an American couple in Beijing killing the man before jumping to his death off of the Drum Tower.

I've sort of lost my train of thought. I started out typing this prior to dinner and having eaten I am now brain dead. I went to bed around midnight last night and then was awakened by a call from one of my stores shortly after 1AM because they had an emergency and the manager wouldn't answer the fucking phone. I got back up around 5AM and finally dragged myself in to work so the rest of the day has seemed a blur.

LOS ANGELES - JANUARY 27: Jael Phelps a membe...

Image by Getty Images via Daylife

I am pretty much disgusted with the Westboro Baptist So-Called Church. These bigoted haters have picked Tony Snow's funeral to picket. Whether you are a conservative and respect him or a liberal who didn't like him I think that everyone can agree that picketing someone's funeral is just in really bad taste. Thanks for Stop the ACLU for passing on this story.

Dear God, please let the Patriot Guard Riders know about this ahead of time. The Phelps gang is ready to strike, and they outline their intent here.

Please pass this along to all who can get the word out so we can stop these fools. According to their site, this is when it's going to happen and why:

Read More at Ms.Underestimated

While Snow isn't military (although he might have been at one time, I really don't know) I also hope the Patriot Guard is out in force for this. I am certainly against censorship so this church of evil misguided inbred morons has every right to say what they want but they certainly don't have the right to preach their crap to people that don't want to hear it.

Phelps has released a video on YouTube that is pretty nasty as well.

So the Westboro Baptist Church of Latter Day Retards has a web site as well and on the web site they have itineraries of upcoming protests. Here's what they have to say about Tony Snow:

Christ Episcopal Church (Lepor Colony) 118 N. Washington St. Tony Snow (Press Secretary for 6 "B" George W. Bush) is dead, YES! He had a platform, he was given some small talent by his creator. He was an unfaithful steward, and is now residing in hell. Each opportunity he had to faithfully REport what the servants at WBC had to tell this country/world, Tony Snow besmerched and vilified the words of God and the people of God. Thereby being a party to the crime of passing laws to make the preaching of the gospel to this adulterous and sinful generation = criminal activity. That is a very bad monkey! This is what the Lord Jesus Christ said about hypocritical heretical "scribes": Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows? houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Matthew 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men?s bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, Luke 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. You see there is nothing worse than a scribe who has gone away from their primary duty to faithfully report the facts as they ARE! And how appropriate that this brute, vain beast of a brat was raised Catholic, but then determined like his forefathers that oops! he'd rather be a filthy Episcopalian, instead. God hates Tony Snow, and that is why he is now burning in hell.

So it's obvious that their webmaster needs a dictionary as well as a grammar textbook by his side as he posts this. It's usually helpful to know how to spell things like "lepers" and "sepulchers" when you are ranting and raving like a religious lunatic. Not that I am the Earl of Grammar or anything but DAMN!

I don't personally believe that there is a god but let's say for the sake of the argument that the old dude with a beard is hanging out in the sky with E.T. He wouldn't send Phelps and his family to hell for their sins. Oh, NO. He would be wiping his ass with king sized dookie swabs from the Westboro Bastard Chuirch.

Procrastination is my middle name. Well, actually it's Harrison but that's Latin or Greek for Tomorrow. or Something like that. Anyway, the point is I stayed up late and finished my taxes last night. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, eh?

I probably would have filed an extension first but dammit that rebate will be needed now. I only owe the State of Georgia a little over $200. Heck, that's a little less than I paid them last year. I had to pay them $281 last year. I also made $32,000 more this year. Fucking weird. Too bad that's only about 10% of what I owe the federal government. I feel like someone just stuck a big dildo up my ass with the words Internal Revenue Service written on the side of it. Yeah, that long. $2232. After my $1800 rebate I end up only owing a little over $400, which is right around where I prefer to keep it anyway. Christ, $2200 used to be about 11 weeks pay back when I started with my company. 11 fucking weeks! Hey, I think I just heard a truck drive up there. Didja hear that?

Tax Rebate - Money you earned that the government took forcefully that you should feel good about getting back from them in a case of largess.

I think I want to throw up now. Too bad they won't let me apply the rebate toward my tax payments. That would be cool. But, no. They want me to spend it and help the economy. I'll spend it alright. On the bills that I won't be able to pay when I write them a $2200 check later this afternoon. Bwahaha.

Actually the check may be a few days later. I need to wait until the last day of the month before I send it in. Wonder if they will take a post-dated check...

So things aren't going to be any less stressful around the Miles casa the rest of the month. If I can quit losing so much damned money out of one of my stores perhaps I can recoup some of it before summer vacation gets here.

You know what really sucks about this whole thing? I took an 85% increase in pay, maybe close to 80, but now that I have sent in a new W-4 to take more out of my pay in conjunction with the fact that I have doubled my retirement deductions I will be bringing home the same or less than I was as a store manager. That's fucked up.

Tax Day! Time for your once a year reaming at the hands of an overgrown government bureaucracy. And do you think all of the rhetoric from Shrillary and Obama is for real? Fuck no, they don't care. They say they care but just like George Bush, Ted Kennedy and all the rest of the assholes on both sides of the aisle, they think that it's a drop in the bucket for the sacrifices they make to 'serve' the American public. Now I really want to puke. Fucking assholes.

I received this email earlier while at work it best to just reproduce it here in it's entirety. If you are in favor of the act make sure and contact your congressional representatives.

Last night, a bill was introduced in the U.S. House that would stop Comcast, Verizon and AT&T from controlling the free flow on information on the Internet.

The only way we can stop these gatekeepers is if we all take action to support this crucial legislation:

Tell Rep. Phil Gingrey to Support Internet Freedom

In 2006, your voice helped stop mighty phone and cable companies from gutting Net Neutrality. In 2007, you pried open their cell phone networks and gave users a choice.

This year, we're going to stop Internet blocking and censorship once and for all.

Why This is Important: Reps. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Chip Pickering (R-Miss.) introduced the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act" (HR 5353) to stop relentless corporate attempts to set up roadblocks on the information superhighway.

It guarantees Net Neutrality by restoring it in the foundation of communications law. This bold move promises that the public -- not phone and cable companies -- will control the fate of the Internet.

The legislation also calls for a nationwide series of public hearings before anyone in Washington hands these gatekeepers and their lobbyists more power. (Read more about the bill here)

Take Action Now: Save the Internet

How Far We've Come: In 2006, more than 1.5 million Americans called on Congress to keep gatekeepers off our Internet. Last year, more than a quarter-million people sent comments to the FCC and opened up cell-phone networks to user choice and innovation.

This new bill was made possible by our amazing grassroots movement. SavetheInternet.com has brought together Democrats and Republicans, consumer groups and small businesses, bloggers and video gamers, in a new bottom-up majority that's shaking up the status quo.

What You Can Do: For too long, communications policymaking has been rigged against us. But by taking action to support this bill, you're telling Congress that high-priced lobbyists will no longer set the agenda.

Tell Rep. Phil Gingrey : 'Support the Internet Freedom Preservation Act'

The purpose of the Internet is to give power over information to everyone. The role of our elected leaders is to protect our basic right to communicate from those who want to take it away from us.

We've started a new chapter in the fight for an open Internet. We realize that it takes more than one piece of legislation to reverse decades of corrosive telecom policies.

But with this bill -- and your help -- we are on our way.

Thank you,

Timothy Karr

...prior to leaving office next January.

President George Bush has proposed a temporary tax package designed to spur the nation's slowing economy. During a White House press conference President Bush and his economic advisers said that the U.S. economy is at risk for a downturn and Congress must act to head off trouble.

This growth package must be big enough to make a difference in an economy as large and dynamic as ours.

By passing a growth package quickly, we can provide a shot in the arm to keep a fundamentally strong economy healthy, and it will help keep economic sectors that are going through adjustments, such as the housing market, from adversely affecting other parts of our economy.

The president did not offer any kind of specific details of the proposed package but did insist that it include tax incentives for business.

Two Democratic leadership aides made it clear that the growth package wouldn't win support from the Democrats unless it includes relief for low and middle income earners.

I am all for tax cuts and spurring the economy but personally think that we should all just suck it up right now and pitch in to do our share. Cutting taxes is a great thing, I would just as soon get rid of the federal income tax entirely but it has to be replaced by something else, preferably a sales tax.

The Wall Street Journal interviewed folks in New York, Chicago and San Francisco to see how people would spend their rebate. These are some of the interviews.

In theory I would love to see a Libertarian elected. With exception to the last couple of elections in which I voted mostly Republican I have always voted Libertarian straight down the board (with one guilty exception, I voted for Clinton the 1st time around). Ron Paul, no matter that he is running as a Republican is and always will be a Libertarian. Some of his ideas are pretty far-fetched but in general they are good.

Facts are facts. He won't get nominated, nor will he get elected, but like Ross Perot many of his ideas will find fruition later on. Although it seems like our politicians don't listen, they do, it just takes a while and the losers in the 2008 election (most likely the Republicans) will be listening and scratching their heads wondering what the fuck happened. THAT is the point at which they might start listening and asking questions.

The below are some of Dr. Paul's responses from one of the republican debates that aired. I agree with him 100% that we need to cut spending on the Federal Government level but I also believe that some of the stuff we fund should remain. Completely doing away with the Federal Income Tax is a great idea in principle, but we cannot cut spending enough to completely get rid of it without some other way to bring in income, which is one of the reasons I am behind the Fairtax.

There is a pretty interesting discussion going on at the Fact Checker blog at the Washington Post blogs, which is where I found the link to the above video.

I was very interested in listening to what Mike Huckabee had to say about scrapping the tax cod. I can't imbed it but you can find a link to the video here.

One of the other big issues of the election will be immigration reform. Here's what Dr. Paul has to say about Immigration:

  • Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
  • Enforce visa rules.  Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law.  This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
  • No amnesty.  Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
  • No welfare for illegal aliens.  Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules.  But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
  • End birthright citizenship.  As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
  • Pass true immigration reform.  The current system is incoherent and unfair.  But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation.  This is insanity.  Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

This certainly isn't meant to be an ad for Dr. Paul and I am still undecided as to whom I will vote for but both taxes and immigration are two of the important topics that are going to have to be addressed sooner or later.

I don't guess I have a huge point to make here, I have been up far too long and am not even making much sense to myself.

...but who's buying?

Time to go to work now...

This is probably old news but I haven't been to Representative Westmoreland's homepage in quite some time. The last time I visited there was nothing definite at all concerning the Fairtax but now his statement on taxes is thus:

The burden the federal tax system places on our families and businesses is one of the reasons why the Congressman first ran for office in Georgia, and continues to be a motivation for his service in the U.S. Congress.

The Congressman has pursued the issue of lower taxes throughout his time in the state legislature and in Congress. But despite reducing tax rates, the tax system is so complicated that most people don't even try to do their own taxes. When it takes additional help to comply with our own laws, something is seriously wrong.

He strongly supports future reductions in the tax and regulatory burden on the people of the United States, and also support efforts at eliminating the income tax completely and replacing it with a national retail sales tax, also known as the FairTax. By implementing a consumption-based tax, we will catch elements of the underground economy that currently pay no taxes, while significantly reducing overhead costs to companies, which will result in lower prices

Most importantly, no one will have to fill out tax forms each year, or have money withheld from their paycheck each month. Eliminating the Internal Revenue Service will be a huge step forward toward a fair system, and the elimination of all of the various loopholes will guarantee uniformity across the board. We must have a tax system that everyone can understand, and that is as little burden as possible.

You've got my vote again dude.

We already know from his record as Mayor of New York that he supports illegal aliens, why should I be surprised at that?

I don't get to RedState very often. Like the seriously left wing sites such as KOS 90% of the stuff there is bullshit and extremely one-sided. I can judge the issues for myself without having it spoon fed to me like most of the extremely political sites like to do. Just watch. 90% of the people that hang out on a regular basis at Daily KOS, Redstate or Michelle Malkin's site for instance will just regurgitate verbatim what they have read and hear without bothering to listen to opposing arguments. That's cool, but arguing with those people is useless and pointless.

Anyway, the article I came across wasn't even about Rudy Giuliani. It was really just a short blurb stating the fact that the Flat Tax has four sponsors in congress, whereas the Fairtax has 57. That makes sense to me because the Fairtax taxes everyone including illegal income generated by drug dealers, criminals, and illegal aliens. The Flat Tax only taxes those that are already paying taxes which includes none of the above.

What I found more interesting that the article itself is the comments. They are very polarized on the issue but there are some really good points made. Go check them out and if you are sick of paying taxes visit Fairtax.org as well.

I had all kinds of nasty things to say about the disgraced senator but being as how I am such a sensitive guy I will let you make up your own punchlines.

I think the moral of the story is not that he's gay. To me that is pretty much a non-issue as I could give a shit what you do behind the closed doors in your own home but if you don't want anybody to think you are a turd burglar them perhaps you shouldn't be seen flirting with undercover cops in publically known gay hangouts, particularly when that known cruising spot is the bathroom.

I ran across a story at The Jawa Report that is a little old but I had not read before. It's about Hershey shutting down a plant in Oakdale, California and selling off the plant and adjacent land. Apparently they employed up to 750 back in the 90's and the final 575 will be gone by January. They are also the biggest employer in Oakdale. In addition to this one they are restructuring and closing five other plants in the U.S. and Canada this year. Apparently it is more profitable to make chocolate in Mexico.

...or How my government gave me an involuntary PAY CUT.

July 24th the new Federal Minimum Wage goes from 5.15 to 5.85 an hour. At the same time we, like most companies around the united states will be raising our prices to compensate for it. As far as my employees go it indirectly effects them. Nobody that works for us makes minimum wage except during the first week of training but since their (and my) cost of living is about to be jacked up everywhere, they are all effectively taking a pay cut. The folks that make, for instance, $7 an hour certainly aren't getting a pay raise any time soon and now that I have explained how this shit works to most of them they are entirely unhappy with the new law. The truth hurts.

The tipped minimum wage isn't changing at all. It is currently $2.13 an hour and most of the waitresses that work for me make about a dollar an hour more anyway, plus tips. I would say that most of them average between $7 and $15 an hour depending on what kind of job they do and how busy we are. Like any other sales position in the world what you make is related to what kind of job you do.

Technorati :

Yeah, I have to admit it, I used to watch the show. That's not what this is about, though it ties in a bit. I've been to California a couple of times in my life and it is a beautiful place I must say. Anyway, it's always nice to have a network of professionals and contact phone numbers no matter where I go because you never know what might happen.

Kestenbaum, Eisnet & Gorin LLP are Los Angeles Criminal & DUI Lawyers with over 50 years of experience in courtroom defense in all crimes. They are all Bar Certified Specialists that are available seven days a week in case of an emergency.

Next time you're in LA and in need of an experienced criminal defense attorney, don't forget to contact these guys. They are former trial prosecutors who know the business and have a private investigator on staff as well if needed.

I haven't ever had to get in touch with an attorney when on an excursion, but as I said, you never know what might happen. Considering that on the few occasions that I actually get away from my kids on a vacation I stay pretty lit, having a phone number for an attorney is always a good idea. You can contact them at 818-781-1570

I found this at DRC's site, who in turn got it from Tammy and she is right in that it does need to be repeated and often.

In a recent Journal & Courier article, an attendee of a local gathering in observance of the National Day of Prayer alleged, "Our nation was founded on biblical principles."

To the extent that our Founding Fathers had any religious affiliation at all, it was a tepid embracing of the philosophy of deism, a popular system of thought at the time. Jefferson, Franklin, Paine, among many others, held deist, rather than Christian, religious beliefs.

The two documents upon which our country was actually founded -- i.e., the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States -- contain not a word about Christianity, Christian principles, the Bible or Jesus Christ. Neither is there any mention of the Ten Commandments, heaven, prayer or being saved.

In 1797, the Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated by none other than George Washington, declared that "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." Congress unanimously approved the text of this treaty, and John Adams signed it.

Mandatory church affiliation, among other factors, led to the establishment of the term a "wall of separation between church and state," allowing, at each citizen's discretion, freedom of religion or freedom from religion.

The phrase "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, and our national motto became "In God We Trust" in 1956 in response to USSRs' so-called "godless Communists." It is historically incorrect to claim that America was founded upon Christianity.

Indeed, it was quite the opposite.
