October 2008 Archives

With the upcoming election and the fact that I will be voting tomorrow morning I though something a bit patriotic would be appropriate. Thanks to Gratiot for the photo.

So glad I can be one of them.

So my Internet connection is down as I am writing this although by the time you read this it will be back up :)

This has been one of the hardest weeks I've had in quite some time, hell really the last month. The week prior to my vacation and the blogmeet was extremely long. Most of the days were 12+ hours. Since I got back to work I have had one day off in the last fourteen and that was eleven days ago. Each of them has been 10-14 hours and I don't think a single day has gone by that someone hasn't called in on me. Yesterday I was hung all three shifts and just barely managed to avoid working a triple shift. I'm too old for that shit. Today was the last day on one of my manager's vacation, one of the other store managers is off and the third one fucking called in. Called in. What a crock of shit.

I spoke with her this afternoon and after reading her the riot act about her fucking employees jacking their jaws on their cell phones all day I let her know that she had to make up the hours that I had to pay out to cover the shift she should have been cooking. She wasn't too happy about that but she was even less happy about the phone thing because she is just as bad as her employees. I told her they could no longer be on the phone at work and she tried to tell me that it was OK when they were outside smoking, at which point I had to tell her, NO it is not OK, they are to leave them at home and if I see them they will be confiscated. Lately a couple of them have had bluetooth devices and I just want to snatch them off of their fucking ears. Luckily common sense came to me just before I grabbed one yesterday.

Oh well, I've had a smoke and a cup of coffee and now the connection is back up. Time to find some crimes to blog about.

later, dudes and dudettes

8:00pm Need to find an ATM. Damn, it's got to be a Bank of America. I don't want to pay the $2 I'll get charged so I will drive around aimlessly for hours wasting gas at $5 a gallon instead.

8:35pm I don't think this is a particularly nice area of town. Lots of winos around. Hey, there's a Bank of America! I knew I would find one here, they like to give money to people that can't really afford to pay back loans. Makes sense to find one here.

9:00pm OMG! I was robbed at the ATM. It was a huge black man with a knife! I gave him my $60 but when he saw my McFool bumper sticker he beat me up, gave me a black eye and then carved an "O" in my face. He said I should vote for the Obamessiah!

10:00pm That knife thing? Yeah, actually he hit me from behind and knocked me unconscious. I just assumed it was a knife since I'm 'maimed' now. Darn those Obamessiah supporters!

11:00pm Oh yeah, he sexually assaulted me. Unconscious? Yeah, well I just know. What black man could resist putting his hand up under my shirt to grab my boob after robbing me at knifepoint, knocking me unconscious from behind and carving an "O" in my face?

11:30pm Cell phones? No, I was in the middle of town but there was no signal so I left when I woke up, drove to my friend's house and called the police. I just assumed he robbed me because I was missing $60. Of course he robbed me because that's what black guys that support the Obamessiah do isn't it?

9am The ATM cameras don't show me taking any money out of it? It must be a conspiracy on the part of the police who all want the Obamessiah to be president. How could a man be a good president that has supporters like that I ask you. You know he's actually the anti-christ don't you? Yeah, I read it on the Internet so you know it's true.

10am That whole letter carved in the face thing? Yeah, maybe it's not true but I can't remember anything.

11am Well, maybe I did it myself. I don't really remember

12pm You know, I have had prior mental problems. That's what it must be. It's all the government's fault because they made me stop taking my medicine. Yeah, that's it.

1pm You know, if the government spent more money on ADHD and stuff things like this wouldn't happen. It's all the government's fault. If you elect McFool he'll fix everything!

This week's Thursday Thong is brought to you by Pattista.

Damn this has been one rough week. One of my guys is on his ten-day vacation right now. In itself that's no big deal. I'm used to running my stores when the managers are off. The problem is that I've had several folks sick this week so I am trying to get their shifts covered and having to run my other two stores as each of those managers gets their two days off. I drove back and forth between three towns all morning getting my weekly paperwork and payroll closed out, cooked in one store for a bit, all the while listening to people fucking whine about this and that. All in a days work I suppose. Better than the alternative of not having a job.

I have eight more days until I get a day off. I'm already tired and grouchy so I can only imagine what I'll be like to work with a week from now.

On a brighter note, I've got sort of a Jerry Springer type thing going on in the comments at Shadowscope. Check out this discussion and tell me what you think. I'll take my entertainment where I can get it and these fuckers are really making me laugh. Perhaps I shouldn't get my kicks at someone else's expense but this group of folks seems to have brought their misery onto themselves.

That's about it for tonight. I only put up one post at the other site and updated another. Just not in the mood for it I guess. I think I'll just hit the sack early. Won't be long until 4:30 rolls around and I have to roll my happy ass out of the bed. Hell, my alarm went off for an hour this morning before I ever even heard it.

Obviously I've moved my header from Shadowscope. I am going to be putting a new one over there more related to the subject of what I've been blogging about there. You know, dead people, trailer trash, meth heads. All I have to do is go to work and shoot some photos and post 'em. bwahaha.

Unfortunately I'm not fucking kidding.

Sorry I haven't put a post up since Helen other than the tramp stamps, although the last two have been nice at least. Need to find a good thong picture for Thursday I guess.

I just received an email from an adoring reader at Shadowscope. hee. Check this out.

Do you ever think that for one moment or one day you could ever write a blog without swearing? Try it. Try to be classy for once. You might just get your message across. Disgusted by your language.

Well fuck you very much you fucking slut. Thanks for the email Dianne. Did you ever try a day NOT reading it if you were disgusted?

Actually she does have a point though, which is one of the reasons I moved this crap over here and left the Crime Blogging at Shadowscope. I wanted some semblance of 'professionalism' over there. It's hard though some days not cursing about some of the scumbags I write about there.

I wanted to get on and bitch about what a hard week I have had since getting back from vacation but I think I'll save that for tomorrow provided I make it home before midnight.

I'm so lame. An entire week since a post. Been busy, but I'll have one up before I hit the sack tonight. Here's this week's Tramp Stamp courtesy of Lone Photowolf who has shared his photo with a Creative Commons License.

She can wash my car ANYTIME.

I run a tech site. It's just a small blog where I will occasionally post news and videos and such. I have never intended for it to be one of the huge gadget blogs, don't consider it a 'contender' or anything like that. I just enjoy writing. I also run a very specific site targeted toward HTPCs and home automation, two of my hobbies. As a result I surf tech sites a couple times a month looking for cool new gadgets or software that I might be able to use or that I might want to post about.

Gadget Advisor is a relatively new site but one I seem to be going back to on occasion for the news and gadgets. What got me hooked was an article on the Logitech Harmony universal remote. Being an HTPC freak I enjoy reading about stuff like that and I will sometimes get a severe case of gadget envy at the same time. I wouldn't use the Harmony simply because I use my own hardware/software solution that incorporates my HA stuff but if it weren't for that it's a pretty cool remote.

I'm not a huge sports fan but I love Major League Baseball, particularly when I can listen to it on the radio.

Kevin Foster spent a short time as an infielder and then pitched for seven years in the Majors, mostly with the Phillies and the Cubs. He died on Saturday after a six month bout with cancer, Renal Cell Carcinoma. According to his brother Mark Foster, Kevin was just a real likable guy that got along with most of the folks he met.

Kevin Foster spent five seasons with the Cubs and his best year was 1995 when he was 12-11 with a 4.51 ERA. He struck out 146 batters that season but also led the NL in home runs allowed with 32.

Couldn't come over here from Shadowscope without bringing some of this...

Thanks to Sean Dreilinger over at Flickr Ava-Sk8trix shows us her tramp stamp.

The trip to Helen was great. I will eventually post some photos but I need to cull through them and make sure there aren't any that DON'T need to be uploaded to Flickr before I start posting them here.

I arrived a day early and just sort of hung out at the cabin until Zonker (no link since he isn't blogging any more) arrived and got settled in, at which point the two of us headed over to The Troll for dinner and a couple of beers. I found a new friend in Paulaner (sp?) Double Bock. Quite expensive for a habit so I only had a couple but boy are those things good.

Once we wandered on back to the cabin we sat up until about 3am on Friday morning just talking about shit, politics, other bloggers, whatever, whilst imbibing Gin & Tonic (Zonker) as well as some yummy Triple Shot Espresso Vodka (me). Damn that stuff is good.

Friday some other folks arrived and several of them have updates on the other three days we spent in Helen so I won't even go there. I did get to see some great folks that I only get to occasionally see including Zonker, Denny, Recondo32 and Georgia, Eric and Fiona, V-Man, Dax, Key Monroe and Miss Priss, Michelle, Kelly and the Senior Chief, my brother Charles and RSM. I think that's everyone anyway. It was a bit larger crowd than I thought would end up coming this year and great to see everyone.

I probably never would have made it to one of these things if Acidman hadn't died when he did. I never met Rob Smith but I had been reading him for a few years along with some of the other folks that were there this weekend. I've had a web site for about ten years or so and Shadowscope has been online for about eight now. I finally converted it into the current blog format back in 2003 and have used that ever since. Obviously I've been doing this for a while but the last folks I met that I also hung out with online were some really nice people involved in Fidonet back in the nineties. While I read about Rob's exploits and some of the fun gatherings that had taken place I just never could find the time and I was probably a little afraid of meeting some of these folks.

When Acidman passed away in June of 2006 I was on my last day of vacation and for some reason I got the wild hair up my ass that I needed to go to his funeral. In Savannah. Five hours from my house. When I should be working. Seemed like a great idea at the time and for a change that's how it turned out. I called my boss and told him a good friend had passed away and drove down to Savannah where I met some of the folks linked to above as well as a bunch more. Some were pretty cool and some were just plain old fucking crazy but it was great to meet them all.

Needless to say, when I heard they were doing Helen (three trips ago) I jumped at the chance to go. The wife and I reserved a room at the Kristy for the weekend and as they say, the rest is history...

So the site is live again. As you can see from the post back in July I had already started working on it but never really gotten anything going. Busy with other stuff I suppose.

Why Skullfuckin? That's a question better answered by the master of ocular penetration, Dax Montana. There was a post he put up a couple of years ago that goes into a bit more detail. One of those 'you had to be there' type things. Only I wasn't there thank the gods. I found this domain available some time in 2007 and what do you do when you find an excellent fucking domain available? You get it.

I have been needing to separate my crime blogging from my personal life for awhile now since it seems that I have seriously gotten into it. My work crap has no place there and vice versa. Blogging about some douchebag that assfucked a kid and deserves to get rammed with a hot poker just doesn't need to be posted next to photos of my kids. Then again, maybe this doesn't either but this stuff is me and we all know it's about me.

Anyhow, this is where I am going to start posting all of the crap that I used to about work, kids, politics, whatever. I'll try to get something up every day but I won't promise. You'll just have to check back :)

Oh yeah, I'll have some photos (and maybe videos) from the blogmeet up in the next day or two. Seriously damning stuff that.

I guess I'll leave this on top for a couple of days. Directions and whatnot are down below.

This week has crept up on me. I started my vacation this morning (Wednesday) and while I had to go into one of my stores for a bit it was a quick visit and now I'm done until next Wednesday morning. Too fucking soon if you ask me.

The reason I took my vacation this week is for two reasons. One, the kids are out of school Monday for fall break and the other, the Helen blogmeet. Yep, it's Blogtoberfest again. Haven't heard much carrying on about it this year. I'm looking forward to a restful weekend up in the Mountains. Heck, I don't even know who all's coming this time.

As in past years we are staying at the Chalet Kristy right on the banks of the Chattahoochee. It's a blast. Most of the folks roll in Friday evening or Saturday but a couple of us I know will be up there Thursday evening. By about 6pm I should be sipping a frosty beverage at The Troll if anyone wants to get together.

Directions and some phone numbers are under the fold.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've put up a Tramp Stamp and as I am running short on time this morning and really can't think of a damn thing to actually write about ...

I'm wondering if Eric ran across this Stormtrooper chick when he was at Dragon Con this year. I haven't been in years but one of the reasons I always enjoyed going was to see people in costumes. Women type peoples obviously...
