October 2005 Archives

Have you ever noticed that this is the only country in the entire world where we have fat poor people? What the fuck is up with that. Now some fucking dumbass is proposing the idea that we should have a minimum yearly income level. If you don't meet it, then the government cuts you a check (taken by gunpoint from my fucking earnings, naturally, like the rest of the overbearing federal income tax). Hell, all that will do is promote a bunch of lazy, lard-ass, welfare collecting fuckers to work even less than they do now, if that is possible. I will try to find an actual link to the info, and post it when I do.

I hate it when online newspapers (such as the AJfuckingC) REQUIRE registration in order to be able to access them. It pisses me off because it is just a scam to send more fucking junk emails. I shy away from those sites and use either portals that I have already registered for something else, or listen to the radio. It just pisses me off when I come across an interesting link and can't go there to read it. Fuck you AJC.

Damn, I'm not sure where this week has gone. First week back at work from vacation is always pretty difficult, and the last six days have been no exception. In addition to the long days they have put another manager trainee in my unit, so I now have him, as well as the two interns. Trying to keep me busy I guess.

Our last day at the park was Friday. We spent it at the Magic Kingdom again. Rode some of the stuff that we had not had a chance to the previous day. Personally this was my favorite park. I suppose that is because it is more geared for younger kids than the other parks are, or at least it seemed so to me.

We started out the day with a late breakfast at the Crystal Palace, another one with characters wandering around.

After that we went to the Jungle Cruise. The dude that drove the boat told some horribly afwul jokes and puns. Hurt my ears every time he opened his mouth. The SO loved them.

After that we rode the train around the park. The two older kids loved it.

Not.

Tom Sawyer's Island

Another play area.

Waiting for Stephanie and the kids on a ride.

By this time I was ready to leave them here.

The last thing we did was watch the Cinderellabration show at her castle. This is when she gets crowned as a princess.

Can't forget Mickey and Walt.

Stephanie wanted to get a picture of me sitting here. We have one, or maybe my parents do, of me on one of these benches in the Main Street area when I was about ten years old. If I come across it maybe I will scan it and post.

I took somewhere around 300 photos. I used to work as a photographers assistant and have always felt that the trick to get good pictures (there are one or two here) is in volume. Sooner or later you will get a good shot. Like 300 monkeys and 300 typewriters.

Thursday we slept in a bit, and went and had the Ohana Breakfast at the Polynesian Resort. There were several of the characters there. I particularly liked the character dining at the resorts, as well as the Magic Kingdom, it damn sure beat standing in line for a 30 second photo. This way they just migrated around to the table eventually where we could get pics.

Mickey and Ruth

Then Pluto came around.

Lilo and Stitch came and hung for a couple of minutes

After breakfast we grabbed the bus and headed to the Animal Kingdom. We had a good time, and it was fun, but all in all this was my least favorite part of the trip. It also rained quite a bit harder than the other days, and it was very hot and extremely humid.

Waiting in line for Kali River Rapids

On the Safari Ride. This was pretty cool. I went to Lion Country Safari as a kid when it was still open, this was of course much smaller, but reminiscent.

Chris tried pretty hard, he took most of the pics on the Safari ride, most of them sucked though. The biggest part of the problem is that my digital camera is great for stills, but moving, it blows.

For supper we went to the Rainforest Cafe. It was pretty fun, but I was wet, cold, and it was expensive. I was damn sure ready to get back to the hotel and dry out.

The second day there, we spent at the Magic Kingdom. I think that we were there until about 11pm or so. Left about an hour before they closed. We were all pretty damn tired. The first couple of pics were takien on this little train thing in Tommorowland.

We had lunch at the Liberty Tress Tavern in Frontier Land.

Ruth was her usual charming self.

After lunch we headed for the Swiss Family Treehouse.

Anna pouts whenever we have to do something that she doesn't like, or isn't her idea. That is quite often.

A brief stop at a watering hole for Ruth

Then we went through It's a Small World. Most of us enjoyed it.

The we rode the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. We all had a good time.

Except for Ruth, who didn't ride this time.

That was most of the pictures that I took that day, at least the ones that I am going to post.

I love this picture except for the fact that I look like someone just rammed a stick up my ass.

We stayed at the Contemporary Resort, which was right next to the Magic Kingdom. This was pretty cool, as I did not want to walk forever, or have to deal with parking, or have to take an hour just to get to the parks themselves. This was taken at the hotel.

It rained most of the time that we were there, which was almost a blessing in digsuise. It really helped to cool things off, and the lines were not too terribly bad. It certainly didn't stop us, or alot of other people though. The first day that we were there we went to MGM Studios. Tried to upload this photo while I was there, but had some kind of problem with getting it to show up.

This was also taken at MGM. There was some kind of 3D Muppets show, it was actually pretty cool.

These were also taken at MGM, at the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area. One of the nice things was that sprinkled throughout all of the parks we would come across play areas for the little ones. It was a nice break for us, and gave Ruth a chance to run around. Hell, both of the other kids enjoyed them as well. The one at MGM was for kids of all ages, some of the stuff Ruth was still too small for.

Like I said, kids of ALL ages.

This one was taken near the Tower of Terror, also at MGM. I hung out with Ruth for awhile so that everyone could go on a couple of rides. This late in the day and she was getting pretty damn tired.

We arrived a couple of hours ago. Had to unload the rental and unpack. Getting ready to have a bite to eat. We somehow managed to get rid of the two oldest kids tonight so all is well and fairly quiet except for the sound of Dora the Explorer. Getting ready to put a stop to that as I want to see the episodes of Lost and Invasion from earlier this week.

Just finished resizing some of the photos and will post a fairly long entry with them later tonight or tommorow.

Today was pretty cool, although it rained most of the day. Kept it a bit cooler, and the Animal Kingdom park was a lot less crowded than it would have been otherwise. Stephanie and the kids are asleep, so that has given me a chance to relax. I did have to spend 30 fucking minutes on the phone with tech support because I could not get back online with the ipaq. Ended up sitting in the lobby and finally was able to connect. I left the phone cable in the room, so had to use their hotspot.

We took a shitload (if you don't know how much that is, you are not from the south) of pictures. It is a pita to resize them using the fucking stylus, so they will have to wait until I get home this weekend.

We are spending tommorow (our last day) at the Magic Kingdom and will try to finish the stuff that we did not get to do the other day.

More later.

...are killing me. We did the Magic Kingdom today, which was cool. That is the only park I have ever been to, I think that it may be the only one that existed when I came, back in the mid '70s. Everyone had a great time, particularly the girls. Took a bunch of pics, which I will post once I get home and have the opportunity to resize.
Of course we did not get to see everything that we wanted to, but we are going back to the Magic Kingdom on Friday, and will try to get in the things that we missed today. Originally we were going to drive home Friday evening after spending the day at the park, but as tired as I have been the last couple of nights, I decided to extend our stay until Saturday morning.
I am pretty whipped and the letters are starting to blur, so I think that I will dial in, post this, and pass out.

What a fucking day!

We are having a pretty good time so far. Went to MGM yesterday. Between that and the drive Monday my ass is whooped. Going to the Magic Kingdom today. Stephanie and the kids let me know that it was open for resort guests until Midnight tonight. Fuck, I need to find someplace to buy cigarettes be ore I kill someone.

Obviously I have not felt much like blogging lately. Just have not had much of a sense of humor the last couple of weeks. All it takes is a couple of brews and a bit of surfing and I can't stop laughing. Thought I was going to piss my pants for a couple of minutes there.
