August 2005 Archives

One of the things that I have drifted away from over the last few years is hiring the pretty young things. It is nice to have eye-candy, but one of the things I have learned is that for the most part, anyone under 30 is pretty much unreliable. Of course there is always the exception to the rule, but for the most part, I think it is true.
Unfortunately for me today, two of my three 2nd shift associates fall into this category. Therefore I get to stay an extra shift to babysit and mediate. lazy fucking cocksuckers.

Looong week. I have been averaging 14 hours a day for the last couple of week, and can feel it. I am pretty much whipped. This time of year my costs always go up, back to school and all that. When sales fall off, people are still going to make money even at my expense unfortunately, so I end up spending more time there just to make sure everything goes where it should.

Getting ready to go to the bank, and was musing on why people expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. I got to listen to one waitress today bitch about how she's not making any money. She didn't appreciate my suggestions very much.

1. Show up for work ontime.
2. Quit trying to leave early.
3. Quit spending half the day outside smoking.
4. Quit telling customers about how you are not making money.

After almost 19 years of doing this I have become a very patient person, but right now my patience is being worn thin.

...although that doesn't take much. I managed to get my pda connected to the net through my cell phone. W00t! Now can get online ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. Damn, I am a geek sometimes. Will come in handy on trips though. I just need to get hooked up with a couple of extra batteries now.

...or skullfuckery? You tell me.

The Dax Files

Since Stephanie quit smoking last year, I used to only smoke in the basement or the bathroom. When I made my feeble attempt earlier this year, and started smoking again, I decided not to subject anyone else to it, and don't want my damn house smelling like smoke. I have been smoking outside since. One of the things I miss most particularly in the morning is having a cup of coffe, a smoke, and taking a big old healthy dump. Not much better, except perhaps sex.

That is about as work-related as I am going to get in my posting tonight. Suffice it to say that this week has been full of suckiness. One more day until I get a day off.

I have an account at Amazon, but don't use it a whole lot, except to pre-order books that I want, and a bit of Christmas shopiing. Apparently I need to stop by more often. Can you say BooYa!

Just checking out different sites when I should be asleep, so I thought I would help out (with the damn tag, not the other!!)

Dilemmas of a Virgin Slut

I've always loved James Bond. I started reading Ian Fleming's novels when I was about nine or ten years old, and moved on to the movies after that. IMHO Pierce Brosnan made the best Bond since Sean Connery. I am sorry to see him leave the role. Hopefully they will find someone else as good at it.

I used to hate cell phones. I have gotten so used to carrying one, that I dumped my landline and now use nothing but the cell. Generally I will cut it off in the bank, shopping line, etc.; or at the very least cut the ringer off.

It never fails though. Everyone at work knows that I am busy this morning, and not too call, but they did anyway, and of course I had neglected to cut the ringer off. I immediately hung up and turned the damn thing off, but it still irritated the hell out of me.

Something that I have noticed is that people who would never think about calling me on my home phone won't hesitate to pick up and call me on the cell phone for the most insignificant iota of bullshit, which is probably why they called today. Fucking morons.

Since Ruth is still doing the phase-in this week, I am going with her, then going in to work around noon. I hate scheduling myself to be productive on 2nd shift, but really need to spend the time in there this evening. Need to figure out which of those bastards is ripping me off and shitcan them. I will probably not get home until 9:30 or later this evening, and tommorow is going to be a 16 hour day, so I may not get any more posting done than I have the last few days. About the only time I may have will be this morning while I am at school with Ruth. I am supposed to drop her at te door, then sit in the office for an hour or so.

I've already been hung this afternoon, and my big delivery is coming today, so this should be a real fun day... Not.

OMFG!! I am sitting here getting ready to take my three year old to school, look up and who is on Sesame Street? James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano). I was really hoping that he would take out Bert, but no such luck.

Sleep is really just a cheap caffeine substitute,

If I am able to get any of it later today, I may post a bit this evening. Was up most of the night and I feel like a piece of shit.

Have you ever gone outside to have a smoke, and taken your pocket PC with you because you just couldn't stop playing that stupid fucking bejeweled? And while you were out there, sitting in the dark on your front steps in your blue jeans with no shirt or shoes a goddamn tree roach dropped down the back of your pants and started doing the tango on your butt cheeks? So you were hopping around on one leg with one hand down your pants and trying not to drop the damn ipaq out of the other, finally the fucker comes down out the bottom of your leg? If you ever have the opportunity, relish the experience, because the people that live across the street certainly will.

Maybe it's just that I am an insensitive white, byt this stuff just does not seem like a big deal to me. Scree the NCAA (and NORAD too).

Stealing your neighbor's Internet? Experts urge caution - Aug. 9, 2005

"If you're in a Manhattan building with 30 apartments that's one thing," said Julie Ask, research director at the technology consultants Jupiter Research. "But if you're the guy who parks your car in front of a suburban house in the middle of the night and you've got the screen from your laptop glowing, well..." speaking of a man who was arrested earlier this month in Florida for just that.

Damn. One of the things that I noticed with the iPaq is that on my drive to work and back, there were about 30 different wireless networks. I decided to stop in the Jameson Inn parking lot just to play around. Guess I will have to watch it. I never was able to get a connection, but I suppose that if I had, it might prove to be a problem.

I meant to post these the day after I got back in town, but I think that is the day the power kept going out, and my HTPC crashed. I would get halfway through the post and shit would blink off. Hopefully I will get them up now.

Anna usuallly ends up getting buried (or someone has to anyway) whenever we go to the beach.

It was really funny. Ruth had a good time playing in the sand, but I just could not coax her into the water. Once we were at the pool she was jumping in like a fish. Just wanted no part of the ocean.

Took this from the balcony of the hotel. It was pretty cool because you could see the rain moving in very clearly in the distance.

Took this of Anna and Chris on the balcony.

Taking a break at goofy golf.

Ruth and I went outside for a smoke, and I shot this. There was an arcade near the motel, took the kids for a while to let them relax.

Damn, my kids are hams. Always striking the pose.

Damn, it was pretty hot at goofy golf. We went in some kind of maze there as well, and by the time we were finished, we were done. Then drove the five hours home.
